Summer Internships

Our London, New York and Hong Kong offices recruit Summer Interns for a 10 and 12-week structured programme respectively. Designed especially for penultimate-year students, the scheme will give you a deeper insight into BNP Paribas CIB and help inform your final-year career choices. The summer programmes are highly interactive and include formal training, workshops, speaker series, and networking and social events. Around our businesses the internship programmes are viewed as a high-potential pipeline for our full-time programmes. As an intern, you will be well supported both by the people you meet, your manager and the campus recruitment team, who will work with you to maximise your exposure to our business and help you to get the most out of your summer with us.

BNP Paribas’ Fixed Income business offers a comprehensive suite of products addressing the full spectrum of client needs, from financing and market access to yield enhancement and hedging.
Operating globally across the Credit, Interest Rate and Foreign Exchange markets, we build strong, long-term relationships with our clients – investment managers, corporations, financial institutions, governments, central banks and public sector institutions – to help them raise and invest capital and manage their exposure to risks.

With more than 2,000 specialists across origination, sales, trading and research, our core activities play an important role for the major actors in the international economy, allowing borrowers to optimise their funding needs and investors to maximise their returns.

Teamwork is a key component of our success. Our salespeople and traders work together with research and structuring to provide tailor-made solutions for clients’ specific investing and hedging requirements. The different roles in Fixed Income require different strengths, but whichever path you take, you’ll need to have a strong academic record, good analytical skills, and be able to communicate well with clients and colleagues.

Nearly half of the graduate roles available in Fixed Income are based in London and New York. The remainder are spread across Europe and Asia Pacific – in particular, China and Singapore.

We have roles available in SalesTradingStructuringResearch and Quantitative Research.

Global Equities and Commodity Derivatives (GECD) brings together the three complementary client-facing activities of Structured Equity, Flow & Financing and Commodity Derivatives.

Structured Equity provides structured solutions to personal and business customers, banking networks, insurance companies and pension funds. It provides customised or exchange-traded structured products to meet their needs in capital protection, yield and diversification.

Flow and Financing offers products and services to help institutional investors with their investment, hedging, and portfolio-optimisation. These products and services encompass flow derivatives, stock lending, prime brokerage and execution, as well as Asian equities research and brokerage.

Commodity Derivatives offers a full range of price-risk-management solutions on a wide range of traded commodities. The OTC (Over-The-Counter) group provides liquidity and market-making services, while the Futures team provides global clearing and financing tools for listed commodity futures and options to the corporate and institutional clients.

An entity dedicated to the Emerging Markets completes the structure of GECD to meet the growing interest in investing in this area, as well as the specific needs of emerging and growth market clients.

We have roles available in SalesTradingStructuring, and Research.

Asset Liability Management (ALM) and Treasury is in charge of liquidity, interest rate and structural currency risk management both at the Group’s level and at a local level.

Professionals within ALM and Treasury ensure that BNP Paribas always has sufficient liquidity to honour its commitments to clients and counterparts, providing the funding to meet cash requirements and placing cash surpluses. They also assess interest rate risks linked to the Group’s balance sheet, and implement the appropriate hedging strategies.

ALM and Treasury has three core functions:

  • the management of the Group’s liquidity and its benchmark price in the markets on all tenors
  • the management of structural foreign exchange risks (linked to P&L and to the Group’s investments)
  • the management of interest rate risks in the balance sheet

BNP Paribas’s increasingly global presence means that assets and liabilities are held in a wide range of currencies, and transactions are made in different markets and across varying maturities. At the same time, regulatory pressures mean that accuracy and rigour in liquidity management are more important and more sophisticated than ever before. ALM Treasury ensures that the business has not only enough liquidity to meet its operational commitments but also to satisfy the prudential requirements on each market in which it operates. At the same time it works to assess and mitigate the risks associated with exchange rate volatility and client and counterparty actions when operating across multiple currencies and jurisdictions, and to understand the impact of interest rate changes on the banks assets and liabilities.

ALM focuses on risk analysis and medium/long term financing needs, while Treasury manages short-term funding up to one year, including intra-day liquidity management and cash clearing, and is in charge of monitoring liquidity crises.

  • Guaranteeing that BNP Paribas is able to honour its commitments to clients, and to counterparts on the financial markets
  • Mitigating foreign exchange and interest rate risks
  • Over 300 staff across 42 countries
